MLB Odds Board Heats Up as Tigers/Yankees Prep for Do-or-Die Game 5
Baseball fans will have to wait until Thursday night to see whether the Detroit Tigers or New York Yankees match up with the Texas Rangers in the ALCS. A Game 4 win on Tuesday saw the latter even their first-round series at two games apiece, opening the gates for a do-or-die Game 5 in the Bronx.
As far as MLB betting goes, there’s nothing better than sudden elimination October baseball.
Heading into the deciding contest the Yankees are favored on the MLB futures board with +200 odds of winning the World Series. The Tigers, no light threat themselves, have +325.
With Doug Fister scheduled to take the mound for Detroit, all eyes will be on the ex-Seattle Mariner as he looks to bounce back from a disappointing Game 1. In 4.2 innings of work (after taking over for Justin Verlander following a rain-postponed Friday game), Fister gave up six earned runs for the loss.
Matching him on the bump will be second-year Yankees hurler Ivan Nova.
Can Detroit hang on despite the series shift back to New York? Had it not been for Fister’s discouraging playoff debut on Saturday they would certainly hold the advantage on the mound – in fact, they may still.
